Now and then I still get asked to make ads. I’m always happy to help with that. Two years ago, an American company that publishes The Referral Resource Guide approached me. Their guide is a referral guide for other companies with only ads from companies that have already proven themselves and have great references. The owner was looking for a new designer.
My job was to repost previous ads and designing new ads. Browsing through the new guide that is about to go to print, I noticed how much more “my” advertisements stand out in terms of design, despite the fact that I am often asked to make it more “American” (read: more loud, bigger, in your face kinda thing). I experienced again the difference in designing for different cultures and countries but what I was happy to adapt to.
The new guide is two steps away from the printer. I wonder how the new advertisements will be received!
