I did it! I think to myself as I place the final illustration in the book. My goal was to publish a hardcover children’s book on Amazon. However, a hardcover on Amazon must have at least 76 pages. What have I gotten myself into?
“I can do this,” I thought when I began. The idea for this book came from a nine-year-old girl who told me that reading was boring. She loved the illustrations in my books and could imitate the characters really well, but reading the text? That was dull, she said.
Still, she asked if I could make a book with her name in it because that would be so cool. Not wanting to disappoint a nine-year-old princess, I embarked on this monster project. I’m not sure which was the bigger challenge: convincing a nine-year-old that reading could be fun, or publishing a 76-page hardcover on Amazon.
But I finished it. The monster project is complete. I’ve uploaded the three books to my KDP dashboard. All I can do now is wait for Amazon’s approval and then order the proofs.
The next step is to translate the books into Dutch, and perhaps even Russian—but that’s for later. For now, I’m going to recover from this monumental task.
